Samsung Omnia 7 – Contracts and Deals

Samsung Omnia 7 deals are out there in the marketplace for consumers savvy enough to snap them up.  However, it may take more than a simple click or clip of a coupon to make the most of the deals available for this phone.

Cash back is not a phrase that all consumers are comfortable with.  However, for those willing to put in the work, cash back can net shoppers huge savings on the Samsung Omnia 7.  T-Mobile offers a deal that involves getting £122.56 in cash back.  This will earn consumers a free phone.  All that needs to be purchased is the T-Mobile contract that goes along with the mobile device.  This contract spans 18 months and costs £30.64 a month.  It includes 600 minutes and unlimited texts.

Looking for internet access?  The same deal described above can be applied to a data plan.  The cash back is still £122.56 and the phone itself is still free, but the 18-month contract now includes 600 internet minutes and 500 texts, rather than unlimited texts.

Many people do not like cash back because it can be a time consuming process involving mailing forms back and forth.  For such people, an instant cash back deal may be a better option.  T-Mobile also offers instant cash back to the tune of £55.  This is for an 18-month contract at £30.64 a month with 600 minutes and unlimited texts.

HTC Incredible S Review

What is incredible about the HTC Incredible S?  HTC claims it is the new and improved camera functions.

The camera has an all in one high resolution 8 megapixel camera and HD camcorder.  This makes the phone stand out among its competition.  Eight megapixels may not sound like much but actually, for a phone, it is pretty good.  It is good enough to allow customers to take reasonably high quality videos and pictures using only their phones.

The large screen also contributes to the cinematic experience.  The screen is more than 10cm wide, quite large for a phone.  It is also an LCD screen.  There is even surround sound via SRS WOW HD, allowing users to watch movies on their phones without sacrificing picture or sound quality in the process.

That large, clear screen is also useful for web browsing.  It is easy to view websites and read content on the screen, which is set into a thin, sleek phone.

The phone also comes with HTC Sense.  If you do not know what HTC Sense is, it is HTC’s basic user interface.  It provides weather, time and maps in an easy-to-use format.  It also powers the phone’s internet browser function.  The HTC Incredible S has a 1GHz processor, allowing for fast browsing via the HTC Sense interface.  HTC Sense can even merge all your email accounts into one inbox for easy access.

HTC Desire HD – one of the most popular mobile phones

HTC mobile phones are fast becoming a popular choice among mobile phone users.  This is no surprise, because HTC handsets are proving to be very reliable.  Not only that, but the company’s prices remain competitive against the more well-known models.  The HTC Desire HD is a much-improved version of the HTC Desire, proving that this mobile phone manufacturer is continually looking to move forward within the mobile phone industry.

The HTC Desire HD is often considered a pricey handset, but when you compare the features of this model with other HTC mobile phones on the market then you will see that it is worth every penny.  The handset is heavy at 164g – not surprising when you consider everything inside this beast.

As you would expect from a relatively new handset, the HTC Desire HD is packed with handy features and functions.  It runs on the Android Froyo operating system and has an eight megapixel camera with auto focus, flash and even a face detection feature.  The camera can also record moving video images in HD.  The handset runs on a massive 1GHz processor.
The phone includes a touchscreen that has a pinch-to-zoom function; a GPS receiver with Google Maps; MP3 ringtones compatible with Dolby Mobile and SRS virtual surround sound; and quad band signal, meaning a good signal can be picked in almost any country around the world.

Mobile Phone Deals – HTC Wildfire

When you are comparing handset deals, it is worth checking out the latest mobile phone news, particularly previews of upcoming models.  This is because any upcoming releases will be announced, along with any manufacturing problems that will influence your decision on which mobile phone deal is best for your needs.

The HTC Wildfire is available on a variety of networks, each one offering outstanding deals to tempt you into taking out a contract with them.  One of those deals is a 24 month contract on the 3 network.  For just £15.00 per month you can have 300 minutes of talk time and 5000 texts free each month.  On top of that you can have 500MB of internet data and downloads included at no extra cost.  The handset comes free with this package making it very cost effective.

If you send plenty of text messages and don’t think that 5000 messages a month will quite be enough, then consider this current offer with O2.  For just £20.42 per month you can have 100 free minutes of talk time and unlimited text messaging free per month.  Again, with this package the handset is free and the length of the contract is only 18 months.

If however you prefer to chat, you might think that 100 minutes of talk time is not enough. After checking out the mobile phone news you will probably find offers similar to this one from T-Mobile.  T-Mobile is currently offering the HTC Wildfire on an 18 month contract for just £25.54 per month.  You get 600 free talk time minutes and 500 texts.

Microsoft Sues Motorola Over Android Phones

Microsoft has challenged Motorola’s use of certain Windows 7 techniques in their smartphones.  In particular, the dispute is over the synchronization of emails, contacts, calendars and schedules.  It is accepted that Motorola mobile phones were permitted to implement this technology in 2003-2007, but the license expired and it seems that Motorola mobile phones have continued to use the technology in breach of the agreement.  The offending Motorola mobile phones are the Droid 2 and the Charm, but the breach also affects other models.

Motorola has pledged to defend itself against this lawsuit.  Is this all just a publicity stunt to publicise the release of Windows’ Mobile 7 phones?  The company is concerned about fighting for their share in a market cornered by Android phones.

This dispute over Motorola mobile phones is just the latest lawsuit to hit the industry.  Nokia first sued Apple, who in turn sued HTC. Oracle accused Google of infringing Java patents with the Android operating system. The list goes on.

It does not seem likely that this dispute over Motorola mobile phones will go away any time soon.  The argument is set to run for at least as long as the current handsets are in circulation, but the jury is out on whether it will harm sales of Motorola mobile phones.  If there is no such thing as bad publicity, this litigation will just serve to make people more aware of the new handsets.

Samsung Google Nexus S Overview

While there are many high-spec smart phones on the market, many people need to think about their budgets and look at cheap mobile phones.  One that is very affordable is the Samsung Google Nexus S.  This is the second of Google’s ‘branded’ phones and uses the very latest version of Android.

The handset features a slightly curved display and the shape of the base helps it to fit neatly into the hand.  The clarity of the screen makes viewing messages, websites, images, and videos very easy and a handy screen lock switches it off if you do not need it.  The keyboard is a virtual one and it is easy to use.

One of the main features of the phone is the speed with which apps load and websites with a great deal of content are no problem for the phone, even if it does fall into the category of cheap mobile phones.  Those who use the internet regularly will appreciate the speed with which features load.  Adding new apps is a breeze and Google Maps is a strong feature of the phone, with cached maps that allow you to check directions and locations even if you are unable to get online.

Battery life is good and so is the call quality, with the handset offering noise-reducing technology from Google, so you can make calls even in a noisy environment.  The lightweight handset is perfect for carrying around in a bag or pocket.

Orange San Francisco Smartphone Review

If you are looking for a new handset then it may be worth reading an Orange San Francisco review.  This is one of the cheapest Android handsets available on the market but despite the small price tag, this does not feel like a budget phone.  It has a range of features that will satisfy most smartphone users, including 3G and Wi-Fi internet access, the Android 2.1 operating system and a GPS function.

The handset is slim, is made from quality materials, and gives the handset the feel of a much more expensive smartphone.  The touchscreen is very responsive and the display is clear and bright.  The phone is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack so that you can choose which headphones to use and you are not limited to Orange headphones.

As with any Orange San Francisco review, there is much to be said for the home screens.  There are plenty to use and these can be easily customised.  Apps can be easily added from the Android Market, although as the phone does not use the latest version of Android some of the more recent apps may not be available.  It should also be noted that apps can only be downloaded when the phone is using a 3G connection.

Using the phone to send text messages is also quite easy, as the interface is basic.  The phone can also be used in portrait or landscape mode.

Mobile Phone News: AMOLED Screens

In the last couple of years there have been some great advances in the functionality of mobile phones.  Much of the attention has been focused on operating systems, which have become increasingly sophisticated and allow a much greater range of mobile phone applications.  However, despite the fact that software applications and operating systems are what made mobile phone news, none of it would have been possible if the hardware had not been developed to such an extent.

As an example of why operating systems made the headlines, the HTC Desire and iPhone 4 would have been nothing without the super-fast 1GHZ Snapdragon processor inside of them.  However, it is important to also acknowledge the equally impressive developments of mobile phone screens, which is what makes web browsing and photo viewing fast and clear.

Samsung’s very impressive AMOLED screens have been showcased in mobile phone news recently.  Currently, they are only available in high-end mobile phone models, such as the Omnia 7.   But as with all developments, these new screens will be rolled out to newer and lower-end mobile phone models soon.

So why are AMOLED screens making mobile phone news?  The term AMOLED is an acronym for “active matrix organic light-emitting diode screen”.  These screens generate their own light by using organic compounds.  They can be slimmer because they do not need back lighting.  They can also display finer images that have better colour definition.

Another reason AMOLED screens have been in mobile phone news is that they use less power than LCD screens.  That is particularly useful for smart phones, which tend to quickly drain batteries.
