Nokia X6 – is it worth a look in?

Despite its popularity amongst consumers, the Nokia X6 has never been a strong performer in mobile phone reviews. Although there is no one single fault with the X6, which is the bigger brother of Nokia’s X3 model, there are enough niggling faults with it to paint it in a bad light.

One of the Nokia X6′s strongest points is its music playback, as the ‘Comes With Music’ function allows easy downloading of tunes and a universal speaker output means that any headphones can be used with it. The camera is also of a high quality, with 5-megapixels and a flash option along with the Carl Zeiss lens which Nokia installs on its latest mobile phones. The built in 32 GB of memory also mean that a lot of pictures and songs are needed before space becomes an issue.

However, one place where the phone falls down is functionality. At times, the chassis of the phone feels cheaply made and scrappy, while the small screen means that messages have to be typed horizontally in order to use the QWERTY keyboard.

The home page layout is also cumbersome, with static icons which are far too big for the screen’s size. Even running the programmes can be problematic at times, as the X6 does suffer from a lack of processor power.

The Nokia X6 also doesn’t stand up financially when compared to other contract mobile phones, as the deals on offer tend to be expensive and offer poor value for money.

BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Review

With so many similarities between the Pearl 8120 and its predecessor, the 8100, it’s easy to think they are the same phone.  However, the 8120 does have a few nice additions that make it unique.

Pros

The most important feature of the 8120 is the addition of Wi-Fi connectivity, which enables users to access email inboxes instantly over a wireless signal.  The Wi-Fi is powerful and reliable, perfect for communicating on the go.

The camera boasts an impressive 2 megapixels (as opposed to the 8100’s 1.3) and can also shoot video.  For simple shots and short video clips, it does the job.

The 8120 earns big points from small additions such as the integrated 3.5mm headphone jack and the inclusion of an external microSD port.  Users can now play music through their favourite high quality headphones, and switch the memory card without the hassle of removing the back cover and battery.

Cons

There’s no 3G internet connection, which is a frustrating omission for any of the latest mobile phones with smartphone technology.

Internal memory is rather sparse at just 64MB, but users can expand the memory with a microSD card.

The camera is nothing special and the 2 megapixels don’t present any really noticeable benefit over the 1.3 megapixels found on the Pearl 8100.  It’s certainly not going to replace a user’s standalone digital camera.

Conclusion

For email, the Pearl 8120 has few equals among new mobile phones.  It may not be suitable for the serious business user, but it does the basics well with BlackBerry’s trademark ease and reliability.

Samsung B3310 Review

The Samsung B3310 is an innovative, quirky looking handset which is trying to compete with the many other cheap mobile phones on the market, usually as a pay as you go option.

The most striking feature of the B3310 is its unorthodox shape and design, with a vertical number pad straddling the left hand side of the screen. The fonts, too, are not what are usually found on the latest mobile phones, with a handwritten, child like style being chosen as the default setting.

The Samsung B3310 does have a full QWERTY keyboard, though, which slides out from underneath the vertical number pad for easy typing. A large D pad is also present on the front of the phone, making for quick navigation. However, this large D pad does limit the size of the screen, which is small enough to make reading long texts and emails a chore.

The music player on the Samsung B3310 is very basic, while the lack of a standard 3.5 mm input for headphones means that users have to either buy an adaptor or use the low quality earphones which come as standard.

Although this budget mobile phone is easy to use, with social networking and email options especially easy to set up and operate, the small screen, strange design and low quality 2-megapixel camera leave it lagging behind its rivals. It is still a nice cheap and cheerful alternative for those who are just looking for a very basic handset, though.

HTC Magic – a great Android powered handset!

The HTC Magic is the second Google mobile phone, following the G1. It is an Android mobile phone; created by Google in partnership with Android Inc. Android phones allow for free application creation by users using open source software.

The HTC Magic is 4.45 by 2.17 by 0.54 inches. It weighs 4.18 ounces. Its specifications include 7.5 hours of talk time battery life, and 18 days of standby time battery life. Its main screen has a 320 x 480 pixels resolution, measuring at 3.2 inches. Its main screen is capacitive rather than resistive. Multimedia features include an MPEG4, 3GPP video player and an MP3 music player. It has 288 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM software memory. It has Wi-Fi and 2.0 Bluetooth. It also has GPS.

The Android software used in the second Google phone is version 1.5, also known as Cupcake. The high quality of the touch-screen features strongly in the HTC Magic’s reviews. The screen is responsive and easy to use. The HTC Magic is smaller than the iPhone, but this works in its favour in terms of ease of manual manipulation.

A drawback of the HTC Magic is the relatively poor quality of the music player. There is no headphone jack, limiting the use of the music application. Compared with the iPhone 4, its main competitor in many ways, the HTC Magic is less stylish in its design. The white model of the mobile phone can discolour quite easily.

What is Mazuma Mobile?

Mazuma Mobile is one of the better-known mobile phone recycling firms in the United Kingdom.   As with most companies that look for consumers who want to sell mobile phones they no longer need, Mazuma has put together a simple process that many have found to be easy to follow.  With a reputation for paying quickly, Mazuma has earned the trust of a number of consumers.

Working with Mazuma is a straightforward process.  The firm provides information on what they currently pay for various makes and models of older mobiles.  A prospective customer communicates with a Mazuma representative and tells the rep about the unit he or she wishes to sell.

Mazuma sends a freepost envelope that the customer uses to send the phone to the firm.  Once the phone is received and checked, the payment is rendered to the customer, assuming that the phone is the one discussed prior to the shipment.  Often, the payment is rendered in two working days, something many Mazuma customers find very appealing.

The firm also offers a free tool to help consumers delete information from the older mobile before forwarding the unit via the post.  This is extremely helpful for anyone who is not particularly technically minded, and goes a long way toward helping people feel safe doing business with the company.

While there are a number of mobile phone recycling firms to choose from today, Mazuma is well worth considering.  If you are of a mind to sell your mobile phone for cash, consider what Mazuma can offer.  There is a good chance they will have the most competitive price, as well as one of the friendlier systems that you will come across.

LG Pop GD510 Review

LG has created a little gem with the Pop. It is small and one of the lightest touch-screen phones currently on the market and despite its size it still has a 3-inch screen. It is a slim and compact phone that still manages to have a smart design with a brushed plastic aluminium look and black front piece.

The central control face has a single button that has different functions dependant on the screen it is used in. The side has a series of well-placed buttons for altering volume and operating the camera as well as a mini USB port.

The LG Pop is the eco-warrior’s mobile and is designed with green issues in mind. The components used are biohazard free and the packaging is completely recyclable. It is fitted with an audio alarm that indicates when the battery is charged to save on wasting power.

The casing houses a pretty decent 3-megapixel camera and its 8MB internal memory is capable of storing up to 200 mp3 tunes to listen to on the media player. The virtual QWERTY keyboard, when used on landscape, has no major issues but is a little tricky to master at first. One problem is that without the inclusion of Wi-Fi or 3G surfing the internet can be frustratingly slow, while the absence of a 3.5 mm jack is an obvious complaint users will have.

For a budget mobile phone the LG Pop is a good investment, straightforward to use and still stylish. Connectivity may be the only issue that will keep people away but generally it is a phone worth considering.

Nokia 6300 Review

If you love Nokia mobile phones, then you are probably already familiar with the Nokia 6300 – still one of the finest basic mobile phones Nokia has ever presented us with. From looks to features, this is the epitome of the no-frills, no-nonsense handset.

Looking at it, you can tell it means business. A basic candy bar design, the exterior of the phone features clean lines and a conventional look – using the perfect combination of glossy black and stainless steel. The keypad is well-laid out and easy to use, menu keys are in standard Nokia format and straightforward, and the 2-inch TFT QVGA screen features 16.7 million colours (240 x 320 pixels) for a sharp, bright display.

The menu for the 6300 is the one found in most Nokia mobile phones and easy to navigate. The phone also includes a microSD card slot. Other features include EDGE technology for faster data transfer, a music player, an FM stereo radio, and hands free speaker capability which allows the user to get on with their work whilst having a conversation.

Because this is a very basic phone, the camera is only 2 megapixels and it doesn’t come with a flash. Also missing is GPS, Wi-Fi, and 3G.

Battery life for the Nokia 6300 is 3.5 hours of talk time or 264 hours of standby.

Despite being one of the older Nokia mobile phones, the 6300 is still quite popular today with the crowd who prefers basic, sturdy, and simple over all the bells and whistles.

LG Optimus Review

The LG Optimus handset is an Android 2.1 and looks really stylish.  It has a 3-inch touch-screen that is easy and comfortable to use.  It also comes complete with Wi-Fi capability for those who like to keep in touch with their social networking sites whilst on the move.  This phone comes in four great colours – black, white, pink and grey.  With the dimensions of this phone at 55 x 109 x 13 mm and weighing in at 116g, it will fit nicely into your pocket or handbag.

The LG Optimus has Quad band coverage and gives up to 7 hours and 20 minutes of talk time and up to 500 hours of standby time.  It has a decent 3-megapixel camera and video camera and a video player is also included.  Its entertainment system has an audio player and FM radio, but that all important 3.5 mm headphone jack is missing. The LG Optimus comes with many more features including GPS, Bluetooth, web browser, 3G and email facility and gives you 130MB of internal memory.

This is a great phone to use and is ideal for browsing.  The Wi-Fi capability is very good and allows you access to all your favourite social networking sites whilst you are out and about.  Although it hasn’t got a QWERTY keyboard it is still very easy to use and send messages or email on.  It is also good for the businessman on the move as it allows you to work away from the office.

Tips before Selling Your Mobile Phone

Before you decide to sell your old mobile phone unit, you will have to choose from among several companies based on which will give you the best deal. You can consult independent review sites or sites like mobilevaluer.com that can assist you when looking for the perfect place to sell your phone.

At Mobilevaluer, you first choose whether your phone is still fully working or not working at all. Then you select your phone make from a dropdown list of over 30 phone manufacturers. You then enter your mobile phone type or unit model, after which you will be conveniently presented with a table of the companies which are willing to pay for your old unit as well as their corresponding offers.

When you sell your fully working mobile, it has to be at least in decent working condition, which means that it has no more than mild damage and can still be switched on.

If it is a damaged phone then many providers will consider it but will offer around 10 to 50% of its original selling price. If your phone still does not meet these minimum conditions, the very least these companies can do is to recycle your mobile phone unit for you.

If they have tested your mobile and it isn’t up to scratch, you will then be contacted and offered a lower price than agreed. You have the option to accept or decline the new price offer and if you choose to decline then your phone will be sent back to you free of charge.
